President Goodluck Jonathan asked Central Bank of Nigeria Governor " Sanusi Lamido" told to resign


President Goodluck Jonathan asked Central Bank of Nigeria governor Lamido Sanusi to resign after leaked communication over $50 billion accounting frauand d at state-owned oil company. However, Sanusi declined to resign from his post said that the letter could have been leaked by other people privy to the matter.

The governor also informed the management at Central Bank that he will continue on the post till his term finishes in June this year. Sanusi had written to President about the missing $50 million from the account books of Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation.



The report was published in Lagos headquartered ThisDay newspaper. Due to recent issues, President Jonathan is facing criticism from People’s Democratic Party. The corruption charges against the government could lead to political crisis in Nigeria.

Sanusi was appointed as Central Bank governor on June 3, 2009. He has been named among 100 most influential people in the world by Time magazine.
