According to reports, the 8th grade teacher was having troubles getting her class to understand the lessons for the day, and since the conventional methods weren't working, she sought for more updated means of getting to them.
The English teacher decided to turn to hip-hop for help, in order to help her students grasp the concepts of metaphors and similes.
She printed the inappropriate lyrics to rapper Lil Wayne's song "6 foot 7 foot", and handed them to the entire class as a text to aid their understanding.
Her actions however displeased parents of her students who were outraged to find their kids in possession of such explicit lyrics and the fact that they were speaking in appropriate terms like the rapper.
Reacting to the matter, one of the outraged parents, Vanessa Guzman said "this is crazy, they shouldn’t be giving this to kids in school".
The headmaster of the school, Wayne Owens, while trying to do a little damage control and address the matter had this to say;
“The lesson was for students to learn to identify literary devices. The teacher had already introduced Edgar Allen Poe and Shakespeare.
"Students were having difficulty grasping the concepts of literary devices such as: pun, simile, metaphor, so the teacher used colloquial material.
"This material did not meet the school’s standards and was not approved.
"The teacher recognizes that it was totally inappropriate for a school assignment,” wrote Owens.
The teacher in question has quite good records in the school and based on that, was only given 3 days suspension for her actions.
